Marc Eckō is a fashion and media entrepreneur who has built a billion-dollar global empire. I recently attended a program during which Eckō spoke to a group of business people in Arlington, Virgnia, and wanted to share with you an overview of the key points he shared with the audience. The content stemmed from his new book, Unlabel: Selling You Without Selling Out, and was focused on insights for taking a bold and honest approach to building an authentic personal brand and applying them to your business.

During his 60-minute presentation to a captivated audience, Eckō described what he called “The Authenticity Formula,” discussed the difference between being a brand and being a label, and provided five prescriptions for building an authentic brand. His slide deck included rich, vibrant art and provocative images. And his presentation, despite being delivered while seated in a chair on an empty stage, was thoroughly engaging through use of his great sense of humor and some pretty salty language, true to his irreverent and rebellious brand.
